SIGMA 16MM F/1.4 DC DN CONTEMPORARY OVERVIEW

The 16mm f/1.4 DC DN from Sigma's Contemporary range of lenses is made for use with mirrorless cameras that use the Sony E mount and combines a wide-angle design that is comfortable with an extremely fast maximum aperture. With a bright f/1.4 maximum aperture, this lens excels at working in low light and offers greater depth of field control for fine-tuning selective focus. In order to achieve great sharpness and clarity over the aperture range, the optical design employs a number of low dispersion and aspherical elements that limit colour fringing and other aberrations. Additionally, each element has a Super Multi-Layer Coating to reduce flare and ghosting for improved contrast and colour integrity under harsh lighting. A stepping AF motor complements the optical features of this lens and provides rapid, quiet, and smooth focusing performance for still photography and video applications.

This lens, which is a part of Sigma's Global Vision series' Contemporary line, combines a compact, lightweight construction and adaptable handling with noteworthy optical characteristics to strike a balance between convenience and performance.

APS-C format Sony E mount mirrorless cameras are designed to use wide-angle prime lenses, which offer a 24mm equivalent focal length.

Bright f/1.4 maximum aperture performs well in dim lighting and also provides greater depth of field flexibility for creating selective focus effects.

Greater clarity and colour accuracy are achieved by reducing colour fringing and chromatic aberrations using two Special Low Dispersion (SLD) elements and three F Low Dispersion (FLD) elements.

To reduce lens flare and ghosting and to aid in the creation of contrast-rich and color-neutral imagery, especially in backlit situations, lens elements have been coated with a Super Multi-Layer Coating.
